Gender Equality

The position of women and the religious minoritiesin the Arab-Muslim worldare topics that are subject to controversy in the Western Countries as well as the Arab ones. Regarding women, this is due to the image given to them in many Muslim countries as minors who leave under the guardianship of men their whole lives.

Concerning religious minorities, they are subject to some discriminatory dispositions which are considered as a real violation of Human Rights.

Hence, it is urgent to promulgate the principals of Human Rights principle everywhere, especially in the Arab and African world. These principals are defined as UNESCO priorities. With this respect, the Algerian National Commission for Education, Culture and Sciences has put amongst its priorities the mission of reflecting an Arab-Muslim culture of peace and progress as well as societal values that respect the principals of universal Human Rights, Gender Equality, and the recognition of religious diversities.
